|
|
Hi,
Just bought the BT-359 bluetooth receiver and having a nightmare trying to get it to work with my tytn/trion (WM5) and destinator PN 5.
I have tried the following:
- connected BT-359 to my pc using bluetooth 1.1 bluesoleil stack (with passkey 0000) - worked fine on my pc. set it to nmea mode using SiRFDemo; blue light on BT-359 was blinking really fast and eventually the green light started blinking
- tried to pair BT-359 with my O2 trion; this is where the issues began - it would not accept '0000' as the passkey (always asked me a second time for the passkey); anyway it SEEMED like it eventually worked so went and setup it up with COM port 8 (outgoing port); blue light continued to blink SLOWLY - cant remember the green light
- tried to use GPSInfo on PPC - WOULD NOT WORK; clicked 'cold start' and 'GPS Start' but did not have any affect; the console just kept saying '$p... ok'
- tried to use SirfTech for PPC - it could not find the bluetooth adaptor - kept saying 'network is not ready' or the like
- did a HARD reset on my TRION and BT-359 still the same problems persist
- tried all those tricks of exposing the GPS icon in System panel, etc - but thats not the problem - yet - its the bluetooth pairing (although it pairs perfectly with my pc using bluetooth 1.1 adaptor)
So basically it seems for some reason this device is not pairing with my ppc (I have paired other devices (Blueant X5, etc) to my trion ppc with no probs).
Any ideas - all this makes no sense?? I will take the battery out overnight from the gps receiver. I am going skiing in about 24 hours and was hoping to use this device to get me there - guess I will have to depend on good old maps
Thanks,
njay |

Can you pair the GPS with other handhelds? _________________ Lutz

Ok I cant explain it but after I did a reset to factory settings (using SIRFdemo) it works now! :D What a waste of a day...
Now have to get it to work with Destinator PN 5; already tried WM5GPSfix but Destinator cant find the GPS receiver
GPS receiver is working fine under GPSInfo |

Do a soft reset before trying to run Destinator, to make sure that no other program is using the COM port.
If all else fails, specify the GPS port manually in the Destinator INI file _________________ Lutz
