I'm heading off to California soon and was wondering if anyone knows if I can get US Maps to load onto my Garmin I3.

It would be great if I could take it with me. The little thing hardly ever lets me down.

I couldn't find any links to US Maps on the Garmin site but maybe someone here knows where I can purchase them.

Cheers,
Gamblingman

You'll need a big fat transflash to load the whole US, so be selective, based on where you're headed.

I depends on how much you want to pay!!

It can be done on the cheap by buying Metroguide North America from ebay. These maps are not locked but you can't load them with the normal mapsource loader but with other utilities(freeware)

I have purchased City Navigator North America v8 DVD (from Canada £80). Installed and unlocked the maps on my laptop. I have selected the Florida maps using map tool, and sent them to my Garmin i3, in which I have a spare 256 Mbyte Transflash card.

It seemed to write the maps OK, but when I turn the unit back on and select view map, it is still showing me the UK maps?

The image file on the card is about 125 Mbytes with what I loaded, any idea what I am doing wrong?

Looks like I did nothing wrong - it is the i3 not finding the satellites and dislaying the last point it was at when it had a position fix.

I entered an address and went to view the map and the US maps are loaded.

Nothing.
If you are currently based in UK, it is normal that the i3 shows you the UK maps isn't it ?
What you have to do is a "search" of an address or city within Florida and when found, select "show map"
