TomTom 300

I have tried to install camera sites onto my 300 and noting the warnings both created a CD backup and a copy of the SD card to my computer hard disk.

Whatever I seem to try I either get I/O error or the unit locks and clearly some map information has been lost because I get the 'hands' scree at start-up. I have tried a few resets but no joy.

Sorry to burden you with this on a first post. What are my options

I'm no great expert (and I've moved on from 300 to 700, so no longer have exactly the same interface), so if anybody cleverer comes along, listen to them!!
Now then, go out and get yourself a bigger SD card just in case you haven't enough room to add the cameras. Then restore your original, then copy it to the new card. Then put your original away somewhere safe and don't use it again.
Download the cameras again (OV2 and BMP files), unzip them and then copy them into the Great Britain map directory of your card. The hands logo may well come up on restart whenever you do such things, just so long as it then progresses into the satnav system.
You have to enable the cameras. I myself set them to "Warn when near" and "Warn only when on route".
It's really quite simple and easy once you get into it - I'm a really old idiot and they made it easy enough for me. For better information about doing it, look down left on this page - Camera Help and Camera Database.
