Metroguide USA v5. Please help

I have an i3, runnung 2.7.
Purchased Metroguide USA v5 maps and loaded img2gps utility.Also 1gb card.
Anyone know where I can find an idiots guide to transferring maps to my i3.
Been trying for 2 days now and ready to give up.

Its very easy to get it to navigate(and also loads POI from metroguide) but its a bit more tricky to get the seach address search facility(indexed) but I have done it following this guide

Even withouth the seach you can load your own favourites with Mapsource before you go!

Cant thank you enough for your fast reply.
Will try when I get home from work.
I am currently on ver2.7.
I heard somewhere that you need ver2.9 or above to load new maps.
Do you know if this is correct?

when the new maps are uploaded to the card and inserted into the i3, should the maps appear on screen or do you need a satellite fix before the maps appear.
How do i know its loaded and ready to work before i actually try the i3 in the U.S.?

I have 2.7 and the old method worked with me( see my signiture) but I have not tried this new wizard. I have heard though that you wil need upload the final step via a card reader rather than the i3 itself(and select the card/drive in sendmap as sometimes the utlity will freeze.

the 2.9 problem you refer to is only for people with Map data loaded internally and not on a seperate card!

I forgot to answer your second question.

When the map is successfully loaded you will be able to zoom out and you will see the maptiles that have been loaded and you will also see new poi loaded.

As long as you see these. it will work in the usa!

I have selected the maps i require and they are showing in the left hand window of mapsource.
When I try and "save as" the only options I have is Mapsource file *.mps.
I dont have an option as *.gdb
Any ideas?

The Metrowizz ultility from Geodude is BRILLIANT!!!!!

I have always done it manually and to be honest it was a bit tricky but this new utility make it so easy. I even did it without a card reader!

My i3 has the mapping on an external transflash card. I took out the UK on and loaded my new map on a new card.

I transferred a new mapset within a matter of minutes!!(only a small map of NW England)

It Navigated and also had address search and POI loaded automatically.

GEODUDE is The MAN!!!!

PS make sure for update the Mapsource program to the latest(free update from Mapsource)

Worked a treat. fantastic utility.
Loaded 256mb mapset in no time after 2 days of trying.

Nearly had a heartattack. I left my 256mb original map card in i3 by mistake!

It deleted my UK Map that came with the unit

Phew!!, I am glad I had backed this up to my hard drive. I copied this back and YES i can report that re can re-instate backup as long as its back to the original card.

A word of advise for everyone,BACK UP YOUR MAPS!!!!!!!!

beerbelly,
Loaded eerything successfully for usa mapping.
when i search for a city i only get cities contained in 1 maptile listed.
i have loaded 256 maptiles.
Is there a way to search for any city or change the maptile that is shown.
Also there doesnt seem to be any POIs loaded.
Any advice?
