Just recently purchase a Garmin StreetPilot i3 and was just wondering if thats why its so cheap because you have to buy the mapsource dvd seperate, does this disk come with other more expensive garmin products.

the i3 comes with uk mapping only..if you want european mapping then yes you will have to buy a dvd or a gps with the dvd included...by the way dont expect an answer immediately, people do have other things to do...or possibly they think you should have read a few previous threads first...

Read the previous posts within this forum

The DVDs cost twice as much as your i3!
To update the DVD each year costs 50% of your unit!
Even a brand new GpsMap 60CSX costs 3 times the cost of your unit - without the DVD software!
You have bought the Garmin Base unit!

The Garmin iQue 3600 was expensive, but it came with the software included [and two unlock codes]

thats odd, my I3 came with city nav europe nt+ v8, according to the website, that includes everything (or am i missing something). already plotted a few journeys to france and its worked fine

Probably you have full low level Northern France with the rest just base map - i.e. major roads.

I used my Nothern France map(s) successfully last week when pootling around the Baie de Somme.
