I've finally done it!

Using a few tools that are available on various forums, I've been able to add POI datababes to the Mio. I finished this last night and I'm testing today. Everything appears to be OK BUT the only limitation is that you can't merge POI's with the personal poi's you already have on you Mio. You must add those manually later. All the Mio built in POI's stay unaffected on the machine - it's just your poi's that are wiped. If you don't have many, it shouldn't be a problem! It's a compromise, but it's better than nothing!!

If anyone wants the software and how-to-do-it guide, please PM me. I'll try and get it all done today and email it.

It would be neat to have a link to a download here... Any chance of uploading the instructions somewhere?

OK, the lowdown is that one of the essential bits of software was downloaded from a german GPS forum and I can't find the URL anymore to ask the author if it's ok to distribute it. I guess it must be ok or it wouldn't have been on a forum to start with, all the same I feel a little nervous just posting it openly just in case someone get a bit annoyed about it. Thus the PM.

Is this using POIConvert? If so, you can preserve existing POIs by importing the .kml files into an existing iGO.db file (as pointed out by fable on another thread).

Ravi,

Do you know if this would work?

I would think so (that is is using POIconvert). Haven't seen any tool yet that would allow you to talk to the SQLite database directly.

The question is - does SQLite support indexing, and if yes, is iGO using the indexes?

As far as I can see, using POIConvert on it's own on an iGO.db with existing POI's in it doesn't work - so I was wrong.

Ravi's tools work perfectly - although as stated, you have to add your POI's all in one go - you can't subsequent files without clearing down the existing ones.

The disclaimer comes on because as iGO.db has been re-created, the device thinks you are starting it up for the first time.

It's quite interesting to see the difference in the databases once the PGW are compared....

There's not a huge amount of differences in the two if you compare using the icons. Unfortunately in the past i have found PGPSW database to be around 98% accurate, whereas the Mio ones seem to be around (looking at Bristol and Birmingham areas i.e. the ones i know where the cameras are) 90%.

90% isnt good enough in my view... Sad
