|

Hi folks .. i have just bought a Garmin Nuvi 300 and i was wondering if there was a way that i can set a general over-speed warning so that it alerts me if i go in excess of say 80 mph for motorway use or 35 mph for town use?
Thanks

That would need the info on the speed limit recorded on the maps. Some do that but not sure if the garmin does. the new TTs are supposed to but the info is not very accurate. In any event the warning is above the correct speed limit, not your version of it ![Smile](modules/Forums/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) _________________ Peter

All i am really looking for is a general warning, not somthing that is location related so that if i am on a long jorney i can set it to warn me if i drift above 80 mph or if im doing town driving i would like a warning if i go above 35 mph.
I realise this is a very general warning but i was hoping that there may be somthing that you can use that triggers an alarm based on speed rather than location.

Not sure about Garmin but TT has a facility where map is turned off above a speed that you set - thats about the closest I have heard of. _________________ Peter

GM | It would probably be a good idea to post this type of question in a Garmin specific forum, if you don't get any Garmin users responding here. _________________ Jock

You say you want a general warning that is not location specific, but want it to distinguish between town or motorway driving. I would say that is location specific!
Unfortunately I don't know of a way that you will be able to achieve what you are looking for with your Garmin. |

Im really looking for a simple alarm...
ie if i go on a long run then i will set the alarm speed at say 80 mph
If im doing town driving then i would set it to 30 mph.
So yes it is location dependant but im not looking for the garmin to figure out where i am ....simply give me a warning if i drift over a speed that i have selected
I dont have cruise control in my car and i find that on a long journy you can tend to drift up in speed at times so im looking for an audible alarm if i drift over the speed i have set.
Likewise in town i dont want to drift above a set limit.
Hope that explains things
Thanks
