Navman from a plane ?

I have the Navman 3450 sleeve and SmartStreep Pro.

However, as soon as you're off a road, it doesm't really track you that well.

Is there software I can use with this hardware that kinda, show my position off the road? Also, is there anything that shows a world map, and you cna hold at an aeroplane window, and show your position?

It depends which country you are in, but for off-road navigation in the UK Ordnance Survey maps go down quite well and allow you to see where you are when you are out walking in the forest or up the mountains. You won't get any street routing algorithms, it will just show you where you are, but give you a nice map.
