Hi,
I'm trying to set my home address as my home location (as you do), but my tt510 dos not recognize my house number - is my house number to accurate a location? I,m a bit confused. |

Hi Pasoti,
I suggest that you turn the device on, stand outside your front door and set your home position to the 'GPS position'.

Sorry Pasoti,
Reading my post again, I see that it was rather terse. These devices are (usually) accurate to within a couple of meteres or so.
There are difficulties with using house numbesr. Some houses are identified only by a name, rather than number (usually the more expensive bits of the country!). Another problem is the lead time it takes for house numbers to appear on the database. Also the file itself might be rather old - one of mine is dated 19 January 2005, the other (bought about a month ago) is dated 18 August 2005.
Hope this helps.

Mine is close, but there are only 16 numbers in our street.
What happens when you enter the number, have you tried numbers close to yours? _________________ Jock

Is your street actually on the map? there was something similar asked a while ago, have a read of HERE storing the GPS position didn't work, but storing an on screen position or entering the Lat/ Long directly did - Mike |

Yes it's on the map Mike - when I figure how to enter the position as you suggested I will give that a go. Thanks for the suggestions. _________________ There are 10 types of people who understand binary, those who do, and those who don't. |

I think that this is quite a common occurrence. Frequently I have inserted a recognised post code only to punch in the house number number for it to tell me that it does not exist! I guess for it to recognise every house number is maybe too much to ask. |

It takes my house number okay but locates it further down the street. However I have lived here for eighteen years so I can just about find it now _________________ Colin

It is probably a good idea not to identify your home address too precisely just in case some low life steals your Tom Tom and makes it back to your house before you do knowing that you will be at the Police Station for some time. |
