Just spoken to customer support about a couple of issues.
1) The mp3 one where it locks up is because we are using too new of an ISO/IEC standard for the mp3s hence it locking up. We're supposed to encode all mp3s into 1993 format for them to play properly. Im sorry tomtom, we didnt buy this unit 13 years ago so it is absolutely unacceptable that a £500 device cannot handle the latest compression standard for mp3s. When I argued this with him he said an update will be out in October (as if October is going to be here tomorrow). Thats still unacceptable - it should not take that long to resolve and if it realyl does, then they shouldnt have released the 910 until it was fixed.
Also, we're only allowed to use 128 bit mp3s and nothing hight Well, thats nice isnt it. A freebie mp3 player I received with a magazine can handle higher bitrate mp3s ! I am really really disappointed with tomtom.
2) Mount : Ive been told and confirmed twice that the drooping problem HAS been resolved in the new mount. This hasnt been confirmed by any users as yet though, and it seems difficult right now as we've lost the sun. I personally dont see many differences and am sure it will droop soon or later.
Thoroughly disappointed with tomtom and certainly wont be buying a unit of them again. Ive had a Garmin before without any sort of problem so there is really no excuse other than they wanted to get in market as soon as possible si they dont stay behind. |

So far my new mount has not drooped, although the bloody thing vibrates like a rampant rabbit. |

Exactly the same here, looks good so far but I read on yournav.com that someone did some tests on the new mount and it still drooped
The mount just isnt large and solid enough to hold the heavy 910. My suspension is soft and it still vibrates like a pneumatic drill. |

I have the new mount and am fairly pleased with it so far, My suction pad came away from the old one, On the new mount I was pleased to find that they have changed the way the suction pad is attached to the mount, I've never suffered from the drooping effect with either of the mounts although I have noticed that the new mount seems to vibrate more than the old one. I think that the bar between the ball connectors is slightly thinner so maybe this is why it vibrates more. Although I'm pleased with the mount I still think it's a poor design and much prefer the older style mount's that come with the previous TomTom's. It's such a shame that an exellent device is let down so bad with the design of the mount. |

My 2000+ MP3's are encoded at 192 bits and work fine. _________________ Tom Tom GO 720 |
