I need some help from people in the know with the TT 510 & 710.......
1) Can anyone tell me the size of the SD cards used in these models, I am particulrly interested in how much spare memory's available for downloads / updates (POI , camera positions etc..) ?
2) Practicaly, how easy are these things to move from one car to another and is the new arm mechanism as much of a pain as people make out ?
3) MAPS - Can you update existing maps (ones purchased with the system) or for updates do you have to thrown the old one away and buy new ?
4) Would I have to register with TT for camera updates or could I register for updates from pocketgpsworld.com (this brings me back to the first question, would I need another SD card ?)
Thanks all |

The 510 comes with a 256mb card. I,ve been able to download all the speed camera files from this site and add a few extra voices without any problem, and also the 'tripmaster' application all at the same time without filling the card up. I have not added any extra maps however, as I don't travel outside te UK (in the car).
I don't find removing the mount too much trouble. I am paranoid about my car being broken into so I always hide the mount away and will carry the tomtom with me if its feasable to do so.
For camera updates, register, then subscribe, to this website to download
the files, they are very small files and you will have no difficulty in them fitting onto the standard card.

TT 710 comes with a 1gb SD card which has just over 3mb of free space. Delete a couple of the voices and you can easily make this up to 12mb. Pleanty of capacity for speed camera updates and POi's. |

1) 510 =256mb card 710 =1gb card
2) Easy to move & not as bad as you might think can be fixed if you have problem or get a replacement from TT NP
3) updates can be done through TT home with ease
4) I would not bother getting cams from TT as ones from here are much more up to date all the cams will go on the standard card with no problem but if you intend to put a lot of your own poi's on then i would get a bigger card |
