MIO A201 Device Change Patch Fix for TomTom Compatibility

I posted this question on the Mitac/Mio Forum with no response yet, thus the post here:

I have just received a note from Mio responding to my question about the A201's characterisitc of changing device codes. After a month's exchanges with MIO they have send me this note today:

You can install Tomtom 5.21 patch and it will solve the problems with this software. You can find this patch from the following link

The file name from the link is: update_tool_en_a201.

My question is: Does this patch really fix the device code changing problem? I would like to confirm before I do the update.
