TomTom Navigator keeps telling me to turn in "50 yards", "200 yards", etc. The problem is that these distances appear to be way off ... for example, I was 5 car lengths from an intersection which it reported as "50 yards" away, when 50 feet was probably a more accurate answer. It does properly tell me to turn when I reach the intersection, and if I watch the screen as I am approaching the intersection the numbers (in yards) drop very quickly and proportionally.

Which leads me to believe that TomTom Navigator 5 really means "feet" when it reports "yards". This behavior is very consistent. Has anyone else noticed this behavior?

The data updating on TT is about 1 per sec. This means that at about 60mph, 1 sec equates to about 30 yards. The program won't 'retrieve' the voice command until it has reached, or passed, the trigger point.

This means that 50 yards would appear to be less.

I am not sure this is what is happening ... I have noticed this situation even when I am barely moving, such as when I am approaching a stop light and moving very slowly.

I think the problem you are seeing is because, I think the smallest distance that TomTom deals with is 50yds or 50m. The distance will probably be more accurate when it says 400yds or 200yds.
