HI

I have an Ipaq 3660 with a wired gps and am using Tomtom5. I got this set up fine with the help of a few people on here :D

I decided to change it Crying or Very sad and bought a Navman gps jacket for it, I intsalled the new Navman drivers (as explained on here) and set it up as per a post on here (cant find it again). The problem is I can't lock onto any gps satalites, I have downloaded some GPS info software from Navman but it still wont find any.

Any help please cos the better half is looking at me like 'I told you you shouldn't have messed with it' Embarassed

OK,

When I've tried 4800 & 9600 baud rates but still not connection. When I go to the GPS status screen on T5 the round thing on the right turns wheich means the jacket and ipaq are talking but still no lock.

Please please I need help

Hi,

No mate I have been leaving the ipaq in the back garden. Can you get a lock through double glazed windows? I have the mount so can stick in on the inside of the front window.

navman told me to use the 9600 baud rate, is this right? I cant test it with the Navman software cos I'm having activation problems at the moment.

Anybody else have this problem?

Cheers Rob

No,

Dont know what that is, am just using the standard TT5 and the updated Navman driver.

Think it connects to a POI site to update cameras, not sure which one but I got the software off here if that makes any difference

Cheers for all your help mate.

The Navman jacket runs at 57600 baud but the Comport changes from device to device. You might be able to select 'Navman driver' or something like that.

Ok some good and bad news

I managed to activate the Navman software and it found the gps and got a signal, I did find a post about putting old anti static bags between the Ipaq and jacket so did that and as said found a signal.

I re-installed TT5 and set the baud rate to 57600 as Tim said and guess what? it finds the jacket but is still trying to find a valid GPS signal so I've left it in the back garden trying to find one.

Cheers for all your help guys, cant see why Navman hasn't sheilded the jacket better though.

Can you try setting the GPS device in TomtTom as 'Other Cable (or NMEA) device' and a baud rate of 9600?

Hi Tim,

Navman told me the rate was 9600 but when I set it at that they dont talk to each other, the little green/blue circle doesn't turn.

It is always set as 'other cabel'

OK, put it back at 57600. How long did you leave it for a lock? It can take an absolute age...is this sleeve badged Navman or Navman SE?

I cant be the only one with this problem, just over an hour ago I had a full gps lock with both TT5 and navman smart st and now it wont even talk to the jacket.

I took SmartST off and now TT5 wont even talk to the jacket, I tried with Navman SmartST and its crap compaired to TT5.

I've been messing around with this c**p since 09:30 this morning
