Can someone please direct me to the instructions for downloading and installing the Camera Database onto a Palm OS Device (more specifically a Zire 72 running TomTom Navigator 5)
All I can find are Pocket PC

'Fraid not.
I downloaded the zip file, extracted same and dragged contents to Quick Install and did at synch.
It downloaded the bmp files but left the OV2 files behind with the message "there is no application on the organizer to handle this file (0x4005)."
TomTom is less than helpful in their instructions as to setting up new POI's.

youll need an sd card reader.
remove the sd card from the palm and place it in to the card reader
when asked to how you want to veiw the sd card select veiw files
open the files in my documents on the pc where the ov2 and bmp files are stored
copy and paste the camera files to the great_britain_map file ont he sd card close the window on the pc where you have been viewing the sd card
remove the sd card from the card reader and put it back in the palm
the system of adding poi's to any tomtom system is the sam across all platforms be they smartphone, pocket pc, palm or go _________________ currently using aponia truck navigation on windows phone. Good bye IOS don't let the door hit you on the way out .

Once you have the Speed Camera files in the correct place run up TomTom, tap the screen and select Change preferences, then look for the Manage POI icon (I think its on page two of the preferences screen) tap this.
Next select "Warn when near POI" go through the list and select the first pocketgpsworld camera file in the list, set the warning distance, pick the sound to play (use the test button to listen to the warning sounds).
Finally choose "Warn if POI on Route" IF YOU WANT TO, if you allways drive with a route selected then it will be fine to select, but if you drive without a route selected you will not get any warnings.
Next repeat for each of the POI files you put on the device, if its the speed zoned set-up you should have to do this 24 times, don't wory once its set-up you won't have to do it again - Mike |

No, doesn't work
Will not pick up any of the files - will only scroll through default catagories.
I am able to set up a new POI catagory, back can't add anything to it.
Getting more and more fed up

David, exactly which speed camera database option have you downloaded and copied to the memory card?
This information will help to formulate a more specific answer, do any pocketgpsworld camera files show up when you go through the list of POI in the "Warn when near" option I mentioned above? - Mike |

pgpsw-speed-cams.zip
which extracts to:
pocketgps_uk_gatso.bmp
pocketgps_uk_gatso.ov2
pocketgps_uk_mobile.bmp
pocketgps_uk_mobile.ov2
etc,etc,etc
It shows NONE of these files when in 'Warn when near'
I don't think that it recognises the ov2 files
Has nobody loaded this on Palm OS - or am I the idiot who finds it doesn't work

Yes, the SD card was not write protected and I can see the files.
If you write protect the card the program won't work as it writes info to the card during mormal operation |
