Guys,

Is the only difference between the 720 and the 750 the 4gig Hard disk??

Also can anyone give any practical experiences of the 720/750 at all??

I'm toying with buying one and would like some real-world oppinions
before parting with my hard earned cash ;)

Thanks
Paul

The other major difference is that the 720 only comes with UK maps activated. The other WE maps come on CDs but you have to pay extra to activate them.

We now have a 750 for review. If you need to know anything else about the 750 in particular, please feel free to ask.

I have the 750 with the T1 traffic addon. I upgraded from the old 530 and noticed little has changed in terms of quality. I went for the 750 mainly for the full european maps as i travel a lot, and because the lower profile of the device does not obscure my veiw of the road while giving a wide clear screen.
Touch screen is cool but occationaly gives odd results, press it once and it delays press it again and it'll shoot through two menus, or it'll do nothing at all. But forgive it this minor flaw when you turn it on it'll pin point your position in less than a minuit. And when it gets going all its processes are fast, serching, rerouting, typing.
I'm still playing with the routing settings as it has some strange ideas about the best way to go, I've set the sliders in a bit from default and things seem ok there.
Another good change is, it anounces some main road and motorway numbers to follow like M3, M25 and Junction 13. which can sometimes help.
Finally the voice guidence is a little harsh. (arn't they all) My previous model had quite a soothing female voice, but this one is more like a news broadcast. But I love her all the same.
Navpics??? I'll let you decide about that one. I don't use it.

How are you finding T1 reception, and in what sort of car? Does it have an athermic or heated screen?

I posted a long thread on the tmc section recently regarding my experiences with the T1. After having all sorts of problems I finally figured it out and have had up to 4/5 bars in reception. I've only tested it up the m3, west london and in between.
I have an audi A4 with a standard screen. those screens are a bit of a waste as air con can deal with a hot car well enough.

Tim
I just read a reply you posted to one of my other threads. Would I be right in assuming you've now got one of the icn7## series gps. If so have you had a chance to test it yet?

First run was today. I'm off to Brittany on Saturday, for a fortnight. I will give it a good test then.
