Managed to update to 2.40 and put the single file speed camera database on it.
Ever since then, when i've plugged it into the computer, it turns on, giving the screen indicator that it's plugged into a computer, but the computer itself doesn't identify the nuvi as a usb device....tried reinstalling the usb ports, the garmin software, but to no avail. Just recently tried a 2nd pc....same problem.
Can anyone help? |

I've found with mine that it will only show up as drives on the PC if the Nuvi is switched on before I connect it to the PC. Otherwise, it will go into "PC mode", but not show up as devices.

Hi - I have a C510D but had a similar problem. When first purchased all was fine, but after downloading a waypoint and a map the unit was not recognised by Mapsource or POI Loader. The Garmin drive was visible to XP, but the SD card slot was not.
After much reinstalling and system restores it still wouldn't work. I was about to delete the USB ports and reinstall (a major pain as it means reinstalling every USB device on the system) when I noticed the latest upgrade to Mapsource (v6.11) mentioned USB Mass Storage Mode as part of the update. I ran the update and spotted during the install that the Garmin USB drivers were being replaced. That solved it, all now working OK, and it doesn't matter when/how I plug the unit in.
The USB drivers are how the computer sees the GPS, whether under Mapsource or just within XP. No driver, no work!
Hope this helps.

I had a similar problem with the i3 and found it was because I was connecting it through a hub. For some reason it prefers to connect directly to a USB port.
