TomTom MDA Vario, controls not working

Okay, this is a bizarre one. I've used TomTom on both my palm zire and my spv c500 and c600. Now I've got an all in one Vario and thought I could just put in the card. I did and so far so good. Working fine then I tried to select and the control pad doesn't work. I have to select using the slide out keypad and using the arrow keys in there. That cannot be right because in the palm version it has no trouble using the selecter pad and on the c500 and c600 it uses the joy stick with no problem.

Can anyone help? I'm really confused and cannot work out why TomTom wont recognise the pad. It is TT5 mobile post update. Yes I know I can run navigator on this phone like withthe c600 but I won TT5 mobile and didn't want to shell out again. Works fine apart from the selector pad not being recognised nor the touchscreen working.

The mobile version of TomTom will not support touch screen as smart phones do not have them, the device you now have is a PDA based phone and as such requires TomTom Navigator 5,21 to work correctly, if you have any activations left with your current licence you might be OK - Mike

Welcome to the forums.

Nothing bizarre here, you simply use the wrong software. The Vario is a Pocket PC, not a Smartphone. You need to use TomTom Navigator, not TomTom Mobile.

you need to download the pocket pc application to the vario as its a classed as a pocket pc not a phone
