Garmin Nuvi 300, can it play mp4 or any video format?

Can you play vids, mpgs or mp4's on the nuvi 300. If not is there any software available for this or do you think there might be a software package available in the future to do this?

I think it's highly unlikely that you will ever be able to play vids or mpegs on this unit.
I only say this because I'm running the 360 and the screen refresh rate is terrible so there's no way it could handle video/mpeg, and I'm only running 'normal' map detail.
I've e-mailed Garmin about this but they conveniently 'forgot' to reply to this question.
Funny how they've answered all my queries before and after this question was sent. Confused

You never know, I may be wrong. I hope I am.

Thanks for the reply mate, looks a great system but if it had that extra functionality it would be perfect! :D

I do agree. it's a great system.
It does what it says on the tin/box. Everything works on it, unlike some others I could mention.
The actual unit appears to know where you are anyway, even if the screen is playing catch up. I only say this because I get my speed alerts in the same place every time regardless of where the display shows me. So now I hardly look at it anyway. I just listen out for my nav instructions and the bings and bongs.
That'll do for me. :D

Was looking at the mio a701 today also. Like the idea of having a portable media player aswell as the speedcamera satnav. Dont want to skip on quality witht the sat nav tho as i started lookin into all this for the speedcamera protection...then also sat nav...now also media.. Laughing Out Loud
