PROBLEMS WITH QUEST/QUEST 2 MOTORCYCLE MOUNT..HELP

I have recentley fitted the powered motorcycle mount to my bike and after sourcing a suitable 12v power feed (from a side light) I connected everything however the mount does not appear to power my Quest 2 when I connect up and switch on. I am getting power all the way through the cables however still no joy!!!! Am I correct in thinking that when I put the sat nav in the mount then switch on the pwoer the sat nav should switch on itself as it does in my car and then when I switch off the power the sat nav should notify me that I have no power and will turn off if I dont press a key to run on battery. Help I need to sort this as I am going to France on Thursday, personally I think the mount itself is faulty any ideas/ how does your mount 'power' up??? Confused

Worked out that the mount will power up if I feed directley fromt he battery, however not all together happy with feeding directley from the battery any other suggestions?

What you are saying doesn't make sense to me. Based on the first post, I would say that the connections on the cradle are not mating up with the unit when it's inserted.

But if it works with the wires hooked up direct to the battery, that would indicate that the cradle connections to the quest are ok.

I would go back to where you had the wires hooked up the first time and check again. If you have a meter, measure to see if there is 5V at the prongs on the cradle. I think it's the 2 on the right. Check it with the key on and off.

If you have juice there, I think it's a matter of tweaking the prongs so that they make connection. I had this problem with my car cradle. Mine were out of whack enough that I returned the unit and had it replaced.

Thanks managed to get it powering up by getting another feed from a ignition switched feed off the fuse box. Obviously the sidelight feed wasnt powerfull enough.

Just one more question I am running the Quest via Autocom pro 7 sport and when plugged it it works fine, can hear the voice directions etc, however when I switch on my music I cannot hear the sat nav at all. I thought the autocom unit would auto mute the music for me to hear the sat nav?????? Confused

Be careful, Quest only works with 5v, any more than that could damage it.

I've had my Quest 1 hooked up directly to my bike battery for a year with no problem. I think what you meant to say was Watts. The unit can take a maximum of 5 Watts @13.8 v DC.

I use the QPAC mount with it's QPAC01 power supply. I haven't had to install anything else.
The unit has a built in adaptor, which requires a 12v supply.
So whether on the bike or in the car you still need 12 volts to feed the regulator.
Actually the manual quotes "12/24v DC".
I didn't think anyone would sell a powered mount without the proper adaptor so I wasn't talking about the feed direct to the Quest.
So you are quite right Berisford if you meant the power to the Quest, and not the adaptor.
