I will finish that now, have no idea what happened there!
I was going to say that alot of people with the Nokia N70 have had bluetooth connection problems with the GPS receiver.
This is a fault with the Nokia firmware in the N70.
I've contacted TomTom and Route 66 and Navicore they have all said that you need to be using firmware version 3 or above on the N70 for the software to work.
I have had my N70 flashed with the latest generic firmware version 5 and I still have the GPS lose connection to the phone, but now I don't have to switch the phone on/off to unfreeze it.
type in on the phone standby screen *#0000#
you will see something like
V5.0609.2.0.1
01-03-06
RM-84
the above numbers and date will change depending on the version number.
If the number after V is less than 3 you will need to have it flashed to the latest version at a Nokia service centre, but don't say it's for a Sat-Nav program or they wont do anything.Tell them that it's because the Bluetooth isn't working and your network provider has told you to get the latest generic firmware.
They may do this free but they may charge you £20-£30
Like I said mine still drops the bluetooth connection with all of the above except Navicore as I've have not used it.
Using Wayfinder now as that doesn't drop the connection at all.

I get 3.0546.2.3 on my N70
Is there a chance this will work with TomTom - if not, will getting flashed to 5.x blow away all my phone's settings? |

Yes you will lose your phone settings, but you can do a back up to your memory card first :D
The latest generic firmware for the N70 is
V5.0609.2.0.3
24-04-06
Rm-84
I haven't been on a long journey to use my N70 yet with the new firmware to test it properly, but not had any problems on a few short trips - & I'm using a cheapy BT-77 GPS receiver.
Your phone should work with V 30.546.2.3 though |
