My wife wants a SATNAV for a retirement present. She's hard of hearing so needs a big screen and good, clear volume.
I was thinking of the GO series but had eliminated the 910 because I felt that carrying around a device with a hard disc in it was risky, and leaving it in the car while shopping, etc. even riskier.
But it's the only one with TTS, which I think she needs.
Thus my question.
Thanks

Text to Speech -- I gather only the 910 gives full speech instructions, ie Turn left in 300 yards into the High Street or something like that, rather than 'Turn left in 300 yards'. _________________ Doug Weller

Some of the Garmins have TTS (albeit with smaller screens) and you can also try to get it to work on the GO 700 or GO 500 (the latter would obviously need a bigger SD card) _________________ Lutz

Is it possible to get this TTS to work on a TT 510?
If so, how do you go about doing it?

I have a 910 and thay are robust enough. with the text to speek it will not allways say the road you are turning into but you can see it clearly at the bottom of screen.
It comes with a padded case so you can put it in your pocket or handbag with no problem leaving it in car i do not recomend fast way to lose 500 quid |

I think it is robust enough - I always carry mine around in my handbag when not driving around.
It always gives me the street name so long as I am using the computer voice too. |
