|
|
Hi...
I have recently purchased a navman ICN 550 ( wicked gadget ) uk model with pan european maps,
I am going to Florida later in the year so i gave Navman a call to buy some us maps only to be told you cant get them fot this model ( partly my fault i didnt check to see if you can get us maps for this model, mind on there web site it states you can get addition maps for the us just not for this model, and as it shows the 550 as the top of the range i thought it was the one for me )
winge over...'o)
can anyone tell me if you can get and 3rd party us maps that are compatable with this system, i love the 550 but looks like im gonna have to change it already if i cant find any us maps
thanks |

Unfortunately, no other maps are compatible with the Navman software. I don't know why they don't sell US maps for the 550 as they released that model in the US, too, with US mapping. _________________ Tim |

Thanks Tim
was hopping that wasnt the case, i also have seen the us version with us maps and assumed the you could buy the additional maps, 8O
we all learn by our mistakes
can anyone recomend a model that is more expandable / flexible that can be uploaded with different region maps, i have briefly played with a few different makes and found the Navman to be to my personal liking the best. |

the uk version comes with back up discs for the maps, would it not be the same for the us version and finding a friendly person to copy these for me to load up,
Sound simple to me but what the hell do i know.....;o) |

Firstly it would be illegal and secondly it wouldn't work anyway, as you'd need to register the maps to your unit. The code will already have been used, though.
As for a more expandable unit, what do you need and how much do you have to spend? Is Traffic data via TMC a must or will Traffic via GPRS bluetooth telephone do? _________________ Tim |
