I have recently started using my unit however even with using the backlight I only get about 8 hours use off the battery. The unit is new - 6 months old. Is this normal or should I be contacting garmin?
thanks

Garmins battery life figures are usually optimistic and are quoted for an ideal setup .If you cannot use your Quest from the car power supply There are a number of things that will run the battery down faster .
The backlight...set it for as short a time as posible
Waas/Egnos..disable for better battery life
Routes with a lot of turns shorten battery life
Set Gps mode to battery saver to conserve the battery.

Before I got my Quest wired up to the battery, I could quite happily ride for 10 hours (well, not ride all the time, but have the GPS on for 10 hours) and the battery still had life in it - Garmin quote 20 hours - I would say they're not too far off.
I think you need to cycle the battery a few times to get there though - it won't be 20 hours from the first few charges. |
