|
|
Just bought one from Aldi in UK and was expecting the bundled European map to be a little more detailed than it turned out to be! I'm off to France & Spain shortly and really wanted to use this unit abroad.
Medion are charging £70 for each map which seems expensive, so does anyone know if these can be opbtained more cheaply eslwhere?

Is your unit running the 5.1 version? I may have some Euro maps for that version at work, but I can't check as I'm off on business tomorrow and won't be back at work until next Monday.
I know I have the Euro street level maps for the 4.75 version, but I'm not sure whether they will work with the 5.1 version. I have both 4.75 and 5.1 version CD Roms, but have never tried mixing them!
Anyhoo, if you need 'assistance' and I can help, please PM me and maybe we can reach a satisfactory agreement.

V4 and V5 maps are not compatible, I'm afraid. |

the price for maps is about right for market at the moment the data isnt cheep to buy from the map suppliers and cost has to be included for the time and cost it takes to fomat the map to the software companies format which is why the individul country maps are expensive _________________ currently using aponia truck navigation on windows phone. Make it cheaper and sell twice as many. simple, really.
Then owners of medion kit would not put so much time and effort into cracking their GPS so that they can used £10 ebay TomTom discs. |

tomtom seem to manage to make a profit selling maps at 60€ each (about £40) compared to £69.99 for Medion.
Western Europe from tomtom is only €119 all in. |

from memory medion use navteq as a map supplier so this would indicate the difference between the maps _________________ currently using aponia truck navigation on windows phone. Good bye IOS don't let the door hit you on the way out .
