Hey all ... first time poster ... please be nice 8O
Ok, I have an Acer N35 pocket PC with built in GPS. It did come with destinator which I then dumped in favour of TomTom and more recently TomTom5. I think TomTom 5 is a great app, but on the current hardware I notice its damn slow at screen refreshes when I go round a roundabout, and also to get the initial GPS fix.
If I changed to a faster Pocket PC, with say a Sirff 3 based GPS, would I noticed a quicker fix, stronger fix and a better update speed whilst driving?
Ive looked at the TomTom GO 910, but thought, "Why do I need one, when my pocket PC does all I want TomTom to do?"

First of all make sure you haven't got loads of POI's enabled, infact disable the lot as this is known to slow the screen refresh, to get warnings of the POI (Speed Cameras or others for that matter) configure them using the Preferences/ manage POI/ Warn when near POI function, set up each POI in its own right and give this a try, it quite often speeds things up quite alot. SiRF-III will improve the sat reception and speed of aquiring the signal, but try the above first before going for new hardware - Mike
