|
|
I last downloaded the database a year ago and just popped on again to get it but it seems I now need to pay for it? Is this correct and may I ask why this is so when its us that update it?
Sorry if I have this wrong but I'm a tad confused!
Thanks, |

Did you try looking to see if this had already been discussed?
Wouldn't have been too hard to find this 40 page thread http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=33061.
It's the first Announcement in the Pocket GPS Speed Camera Database forum. _________________ Anita

Yes there is now a £2 per month or £19 per year fee which has been in place since February. However if you have contributed camera data prior to the 1st January this year or have made a previous donation via PayPal then you are entitled to a free lifetime subscription.
The reasons have been debated at length but suffice to say that dta submitted does not magically become a compiled database in 23+ formats without a lot of time and effort.
Also new subscribers can also earn lifetime subscripption by being the first to report a new fixed camera site.
If you believe you may qualify drop me an email. _________________ Darren Griffin |

No need to be lost for words! I added the new Gatsos around Glasgow for a couple of years but then was abroad for a year. Just back and looked to update the database! Not rocket science
Anita... yes I could search but trawling through a 40 page thread would melt my head. You should try being nice
Cheers guys! |

Oh, and Darren... thanks for clarifying. No problem with paying a few pounds, just wondered if there was a free one thats maybe a month out of date etc and you pay for the newest.
Thanks! |

Ah, all is now clear. I wouldn't have been lost for words if you'd said that in the beginning. Sorry for the misunderstaning. _________________ Formerly known as Lost_Property

No need, as I said, if you've submitted cameras prior to 1st Jan (and you appear to have) then you get free lifetime membership. Email me with nour details and the email address you would have used, we'll ID the submission and upgrade your account. _________________ Darren Griffin |

I think most people here would agree that I usually do try to be helpful, but I get p****d off with people who can't be bothered even to look in the most obvious of places, before asking questions that have already been covered extensively. I did give you a link to the answer you were seeking, and you wouldn't have had to trawl through 40 pages - the initial post by the PocketGPSTeam gave the information you wanted.
You must admit it did seem from your post that you were objecting to paying £2 to pop in once a year to pick up the database, while making no contribution to the site whatsoever.
However, now that you've explained I apologise for not being nice to you after a hectic day! _________________ Anita
