My Nokia 3230 is potentially going to give up soon, so I'm looking at a cheap replacement. I've seen the i-mate SP3 (same as Orange SPV C500) for £99, and have fancied trying a Windows phone.

Is there a way to change from the Symbian version of TomTomM5 to the Windows smartphone version? Are they distributed seperately or are both versions on my original MMC card?

Could I use the existing maps, voices etc and just download the v5.20 update for WM Smartphones?

My Nokia uses RS-MMC and the i-mate uses Mini-SD but I have card reader so it shouldn't be a problem to transfer it.

providing you have activations left then you all you need to do is copy the map to the new SD card then download the ttm5 from the tomtom website and activate the map

I got this response which is a pre-canned response and doesn't really answer my question directly. But at least they don't say it can't be done.

We would like to thank you for your message to TomTom Customer Support.

In order to use your software in another device you will have to re-activate. In most cases you can't do this yourself and we have to help you out with that. To do so we need the following information:

We recommend you send us a message that includes the following data:

The product code of the product that you want to activate.

Your device code
The code will be displayed when you select a map that has not yet been activated.
You can find the device code at the settings in NAVIGATOR 5, MOBILE 5 and TomTom GO v5.
| 1. Consecutively click [Change preferences-Show version]
2. Here you will find the device code. It consists of 2x5 characters.

The proof of purchase of your new device.

Then you will receive a new activationcode which you can use.
After activating you will have to update the software by downloading the update from our website.
