Hi all,

To day I have updaed my TomTomGO 300 to the new SW V5.440 with no problems, if you have not done so I would recommend it, I have found it finds and locks onto the satellites a lot better, it also works a lot better in the house since I did the update. I also noticed you can turn on Bluetooth, I am not sure if it had this before but I don't remember it.

Thanks for the info Bob

I wasn't going to upgrade but if it makes a differnce and there are some small extras I'll do it.

Shame TT can't take the time to produce decent release notes.....

Glad someone else has noticed the improved sat performance.

I noticed that instead of 3-4 sats in the house I now get 6-7.

Hi Antoeknee,

The sats are as you say between 6-7 in the house, before I did the update I had to go from room to room to get any satellite locks.

Tried it earlier today with 2 tomto go 500s side by side on the windowsill in the house. One with 5.420 & other with 5.440. 5.420 took @ 4 mins to get sat lock, 5.440 took @ 7 mins to get a sat lock. Once both were connected they both showed exactly the same sats & signal strengths.

I'm trying to do the upgrade for a friend of mine, but I'm having major problems....

Downloaded the zip, run the zip, and it seems to whizz through very quickly, then it just hangs....

Once I disconnect the Go 300 it then pops up with a screen of the TomTom with the SD card coming out to the side and a red cross going through it....

Any offers of advice greatly received!

Thanks

Hi gadget_sa,

I assume you have extracted all the files in the ZIP packet to a folder, also it says on the TomTom WEB Site you will have to make some space if you are using the original card, it says to remove any unused Voice files?

I hope this is of some help?

Hi Bob,

Thanks for that.

That could be the problem....

First I'm running the exe file and not the zip one, and second, I didn't realise that space had to made... although I thought that could be the problem.

I'll have another look tomorrow now!

Tx

Im having the exact problems, the update says complete on the PC screen, but the TomTom freezes with a "Please wait" message and a picture of the usb lead with a red cross through it.

Ive tried to restore it to a old back-up, which failed. So now im really stuck and its not even my unit. By the way its a Go 500 unit.

I have my own TomTom One unit which works, if I knew which files to copy from it, to get it up and running again would be a big help.

Any ideas guys??

Did you Format the SD Card before you tried to Restore the Backup?

When you put a version update on it reboots itself and can take a little longer to get a fix - If you regress to the previous version you'll get this again.

I would try it a few times on the new version and see how it goes.

If you still want to regress back PM me your email I have a copy Wink
