gprs costs

i want to use traffic for about 5 hrs per day 20 days per month updating about every 15 mins how much data ( mb ) is that and how much would it cost on a payg tariff.

what network would anybody recomend

usually id say 12 meg but get a bundle dont do it payg if your on pay as you go you should be able to get a bolt on to the account

A useful little trick (if you're on a monthly tarriff for data): if you configure the download to disconnect after every little update session the data becomes so small that it's impossible for the operator to charge.

My vodaphone bill is full of negligible data downloads, rounded down to £0.00 per session!

Have a look at T-Mobile web'n'walk tarriffs. I think they do "unlimited" (fair use = a gig or so a month) for £7.50 on top of your normal rental.

Dunno if it's on PAYG though...

I drive 3000 miles a month tomtom and traffic on all the time - I use an old handset on a normal payg orange tarifF for this only stayin the car permanently plugged into a power socket as the battery is shot.

add 10 quid every 6 - 8 weeks have it it set for 15 minute updates - mostly reliable - but not great - use the rds radio updates as well.

so gprs costs are forgettable against the 450 quid of diesel I put in each month.
