|
|
I have a TT One. My query is this:
I downloaded a set of POI .bmp and .ov2 files from here:
http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/tomtompoi.php
But when I tried to extract them from Winzip to My Documents, it didn't seem to extract the whole file. The size of the .ov2 file in Winzip is 12,016 (12,016 what I don't know!) but the size of the corresponding file in My Documents is only 12 kb, only slightly larger than the accompanying .bmp file, so for some reason it hasn't extracted the .ov2 file properly.
Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? Its probably something basic as I'm a complete beginner at any of this.
Thanks |

Since the query is about TomTom, that's the most appropriate place _________________ Jock

Fine to moan about double posting BGF (I do myself), but you could at least try to answer the question too!
I don't think you have a problem Oriole: POI files ARE very small.
For example, the Pocket GPS World speed-zoned speed camera files (in the Jan06 version - the latest I have on this PC) range from 75kB for 30mph to only 2kB for the "variable" speed ones.
And the one I made for my own "Family" places is only 2kB as well.
Try copying the ov2 and bmp files you unzipped onto your Go (into the map folder) and see if it works OK (don't forget to switch them on in Preferences / Manage POI |

But that's the problem, this thread was the more appropriate, BUT other people had started to respond in the other one, so my comments made more sense there, except if you only read this copy..... QED _________________ Jock
