Following my last post, I wondered whether downloading the latest updates from Navman would help. Alas I continue to experience a problem in that the Desktop program constantly tells me that there is a problem with my device and instructs me to switch it off and then on, but when connected through the uSB lead the device will not switch on or off. I have tried switching the USB lead between different ports and I have tried resetting the device - anyone any ideas please? The device does not register in my computer although a little icon appears on the taskbar saying (quite correctly) that a device has been detected any may not work properly.

Hi
You have activesync installed on the PC and its set up correctly. Do you get the red & green icon in the icon tray by the clock when connected. If you plug the iCN into the USB lead. Without starting SmartST, do you get the auto start activesync on the desk top? you should then get the blue USB screen on the iCN and a connection sound.
Try uninstalling active and SmartST and then reinstall active and then SmartST.
Hope this helps you.
Regards

Do be aware that the Service Pack does not include any mapping updates.

Thanks for advice - as you suspected - it is an active sync problem. I have a PDA connected in a cradle, so I needed to remove it so tht activesync had only one device - the navman to worry about. Even then connection is not immedediate and all sorts of dialogue boxes seem to appear before the connection materialises. The main thing is that I have got the thing to work - thanks
