Tom Tom 910 Power Fault

Hello I recently bought a Tom Tom 910 and I chose the option to Bakcup and left it overnight connected to my PC, this morning when I check it my PC said hardware error despite establishing a connection yesterday and then when I tried to turn the Tom Tom while mounted on the PC dock which was still connected to the PC on it keep switching itself off after a couple of seconds, it can't be broken already can it?

Any ideas why this may be happening and any solutions?

Did you

1. Charge it first?
2. Have it connected to the charger whilst it was backing up?

The USB connection does not charge the 910.
