ive heard a few go on about having problems i had mine in january as a belated christmas present,
today i was returning from wakefield yorkshire to wolverhampton, i was a stranger in a foreign town and when i need my tt the most it failed me
first off i had to wait about 10 mins to pick a signal up
then the voice for directions and speed cameras started going distorted, (as aposed to its usual crystal clear sound)
and then its went completely silent, i checked the violume was up which it was went through the menus etc, i then reset started back up, ans sound came back clear as water, then the same happend again, but it did come back on but very distorted sound now,
THEN as i got on to the A38 from the m1 the tt said i was on the m6?
and then decides to take me to birmingham then to come back up the m6 to wolvehampton,
when i left wolves for wakefield it took me up the A5 to the A38, so why when i come back does the tomtom take me to brum to come 20 mile back up north?
so the question is have any body else experianced the little gremlins im gettin and what can i do to sort, need to fix asap as i need the tomtom daily for work etc,
i get the feelin there is a design flaw with tt1's?

Just a thought....
If you often play with different settings and add/delete and change
POI's i found that speech was a bit dodgy from time to time
and i also found the POI alerts sometimes failed....
I have found that basic computer house keeping keeps things
working nicely!
Defrag your SD card *might* help and take off any third party
software maybe?

i have pgps camera database, some personal poi's ie diy stores petrol stations etc, i also have personalised poi alerts (vicki archer), and i have the voices of john cleese, vicki archer and the silent one thats it,
so if i defrag you reckon it may resolve the problem?

Worth a shot!
Depending on what SD Card you have it might be tricky to
defrag the card.....
What I have done in the past is BACKUP the entire card (Remeber, allways backup before even thinking about it!)
Defrag normally needs around 15% Free space.
So you may have to remove a big single file then run it.
But it's allways worked for me. Give it a whirl.

If you are 100% sure the back-up is sound on the computer try formatting the card using the PC then re-copy the back-up to the card, also what method are you using to display the POI? if you have them enabled I would first try disabling them and use the "Warn when near POI" option instead, I appreciate this is a different platform to the ones I use but thought the above worth mentioning - Mike

My normally perfectly behaved TT1 went bonkers for a time yesterday.
After getting me safelty from Bristol to Leamington Spa, on the way back it started randomly changing to different screens. It was acting as if someone was randomly pressing the screen as I was going along.
After ruling out poltergeist activity in my car, I quickly came to the conclusion that it was the heat from the sun causing the problem (hottest day of the year yesterday). To test this I took it out of it's mount and rested it near the gear lever out of the Sun. Sure enough it worked fine after that.
Could that be the problem with yours? Maybe not Sun related but is it located near a hot air vent perhaps?
While I'm here, does anyone have any tips to prevent this problem?

Afraid the following fix only works if you have a copy of the maps of Western Europe....
1) Select Nagivate to...
2) Choose cold country
3) Follow instructions....
