I'm new to this and not sure where I should be posting so bare with me!
I have a iPAQ R1710 with TomTom installed on it but I cannot seem to upload new POI's, the "Add POI" is greyed out and when I transfer the OV2 files over, they arent recognised?! Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks! |

To add POI to the device, if they are downloaded files there should be a file with .ov2 and another file .bmp the file name before the file extension must be identical, the POI need to be copied to the map folder on the memory card. Once they are there use the Preferences/ Manage POI/ Warn when near POI to set-up a proximity warning when you are close to a POI within the specified range.
Is it the speed cameras you are trying to install or something else?
The "Add POI" Should work, Have you got the Lock switch set to "Lock" on the SD card? if so release it - Mike |

Yes I wanted to add a speed camera database and also a National Trust database. The two names are identical but the ov2 file isnt recognised (I get the windows symbol coming up). When i go into preferences and maintain POI, I can only add a POI category, enable/disable POI and warn when near POI, the Add POI is greyed out.
How do I release the lock switch?
Thanks for your help! |

The SD card lock switch is located on the side of the SD card and is clearly marked lock with an arrow (all the ones I have are), how many POI are loaded onto your device in the map folder? there is a limit of 39 custom POI's if you exceed this value they will be on the card but TomTom will not see them, have a look in the SD card map folder and count how many ov2 files are actually in there - if its over 38 you will need to delete some - Mike
Edit once - I moved this topic as it will obtain better viewing in this forum - Mike Alder |

I only have 7 OV2 files located in the SD folder. I changed the lock also on the SD card and I still cant use the ADD POI menu does this mean I cant update the maps either? |

What size card is it?
Is it full or is there any free space shown on the SD card? - I would sugest you look at a hard reset of the device and re-install the TomTom package, there is something wrong if there is space on the device and card, but the add POI icon is greyed out - Mike |

Had exactly the same problem. Using Tom Tom 5.000 (419) on a Nokia 6600,.
Problem seems to be with the PC Suite software. I was transferring using PC Suite for Nokia 6600 over bluetooth, all to no avail, (tried many times).
However I put my card into a friends Nokia 6630 with a direct cable conection. He transferred the files no problem and I am full kitted out with the camera DB and the additional voices.
If you can go with the cable connection |
