Hey all,
I'm totally new to this site and Sat Nav systems. I have got a Garmin i3 and want to install a speed camera database. Can someone tell me which of these options is the best to use: GPSR overlay, POILoader, Single file with all cameras GPX, speed zone complete (23) files. What's the difference? And how will it affect the system?
Thanks |

Hi
I'm new to this too
I know that you have to download the poi loader to install the poi's and speed cameras onto your i3.
First create a folder ( I did it on my desktop) then download poiloader and save it to this folder I then dowloaded speed cameras (23 files) "it has more info on than the single file" into the same folder.
I forgot to say you need a program to unzip the files.
Once the files are in the folder right click then "EXTRACT HERE" (in the folder).
You will be better re-starting your pc then.
Now plug your Gamin into a usb port and it should start Poiloader, it will then find your Garmin and it will ask where to find the files - point it to your Garmin folder and it should show the egg timer, your Garmin will then load the files and once finished that should be it.
to check on your speed cameras etc.
On your Garmin go to "where to - Food, Hotels, and More - custom points and hey presto there they all are.
When you are driving in the vicinity of a speed camera- a red alert appears on top of the Garmin to warn you, If you are going too fast it then starts to bleep and shows the camera, it wont stop bleeping until you drop your speed or pass the camera.
Iknow its all a bit long winded but all in all its quite simple.
The only other proble that I have found up to now is that if you get abigger poi file it can't load onto the Garmin because the memory is too small, I'm trying to find out if a micro sd card in the unit will help with this
Hope this helps
