Fixed a bug that would cause languages updated using 2.90 software to not be detected. Is that it?????????????????
We'll see how it does in practice. |

i think this time i shall continue with beta 2.82 and not be to quick to jump.
with the language bug listed as the only upgrade item, i dont think enough has gone into 3.0 as should be, given the amount of info that this forum has put to them |

Just upgraded to v3.00 ok, will give it a go as to be fair v2.90 didn't give me any major issues, hopefully will try it out in anger tomorrow.

I'll take the plunge this time but will do a manual update as opposed to using the webupdater. I am hoping that Garmin were too embarrassed to mention that they fixed the numerous issues with 2.9 |

Still have to select Country before starting off - should be a "Settings" option IMO! |

Hi,
As someone who updated to 2.9, and decided that it wasn't really quite bad enough to warrant going back to an earlier version, I don't reckon that I have anything to loose by installing the latest 3.0.
I am planning a long trip into the wilds of central Wales tomorrow, so that should be a good 'test' for it! |

So far can't really feel much difference from v2.7 but haven't done a long journey yet. No frozen screens and no lags. Encouraging |

I've done a couple of hundred miles today with v3.0.
Bearing in mind I had no significant problems with v2.9 I think there has been some slight improvements, the map seems to run smoother (with 2.9 the top few millimetres seemed to disappear for a few seconds at a time) and the recalculation time seems to be improved.
I have not noticed any other changes from v2.9.
Nick. |

Anyone noticed if running the i3 on batteries has anything to do with the problems?
I've updated to 3.0 and always run mine on batteries. 2.7 no problems. 2.9 and 3.0 very slow to update and notice if you go off course!!!
However only done a few miles on 3.0 and no white screens or lockup yet! |

Eeeekk!! Same problems with 2.9 but worse. The road name bar at the top updates perfectly as does the Speedometer and compass but the map takes it's time. Sometimes it's spot on (usually when driving slow) but others its way out. I drove 5 miles across town (never been a problem with 2.7) and the map left me at the start point all the way but the road names and speed was fine. |

I don't run on batteries but I think 3.0 is slower than 2.7 and definitely slower to notice slight changes like leaving a motorway via the sliproad.
The screen freeze and map loss of 2.9 has gone for me. |

I've completed 90 miles in navigate mode today on v3.0 and crossed fingers it seems to be okay. Where as with 2.90 I had major screen freezes when completing a similar length journey..... Its early days but looks promising so far.
For the record I am using the 12 volt fag lead and a maplins external antenna. |

Only bought i3 on Saturday but so far well impressed.
Immediately upgraded from v2.7 to v2.9. First trip of the weekend in navigation (Around 200 miles) went like clockwork.
Yesterday in view map mode the map wouldn't update for ages.
Upgraded to V3.0 today and in 'view map' it still stops (Only intermittently though - Sometimes it's fine). In GPS mode only and batteries were low.
Will see how things go before deciding next step. |

Got the email from Garmin this morning and upgraded the unit before I set off for work. Uploaded with any problems.
Set off for work and it took ages to get a lock on the sats, about 5 minutes longer than normal (could have been the new software just bedding in) It looks like it's running ok.
Anyway I went to the garmin site tonight to see what they had fixed and saw this ............
# Unit Software
* StreetPilot i3 Ver. 3.00 as of Apr 21, 2006 Download
* WebUpdater Ver. 2.3.2 as of Mar 20, 2006 Download
So how long as the software upgrade been on the Garmin site? _________________ Navigon 2200 Q4 Maps 2008
