Seems strange Graham

I assume you ment a Mio 168 not 186, if not please ignore this.

I dont know why the SD card is not visable. Mine is visable through My Device on the PDA.

On the PC I have to explore through Mobile device then through My Pocket PC to the next level to see a folder called storage card. It is then available to explore.

Do you have programs on the storage card that work or are you just using the internal memory?

Chris

Hi

Mistype on the number. I have no programs stored on the Data card just data - maps etc. When I go and Explore there is no mention of the Storage Card either through the PC or the PDA.

Any ideas

Graham

Are you referring to 'exploring' using Windows (My Computer in XP), or 'Explore' in ActiveSync?

Have you tried reseting the device, soft reset only - just prod the stylus in the hole marked "Reset" and then see what comes up - I have had the SD card "disapear" a number of times, this usually brings them back - Mike

Hi Mike

I have now done a reset and now have the card back. Well I switched it off and on if that is a soft reset but I lost all my data because I did not back up anything.

Next time I will Wink Wink

Thanks
Graham

You really need to look at the book, this was an avoidable situation, it would appear you have performed a HARD reset, you need to know how to perform a soft reset instead, the soft reset will re-boot the device but should not loose data, find the reset hole on the device and remember where it is for next time (cos there will be a next time when it can't find the card).
As for back-up I would seriously take a look at Sprite Back-up software, easy to use and its not reliant on the PC to re-install, when it all goes wrong and you are mobile away from home its a simple matter to re-install the entire lot to the device - Mike

The soft re-set hole on the Mio 168 is on the left hand side, facing the device, about a quarter of the way up, just above the earphone socket. Use the stylus to press in the hole the wait several seconds while it re-sets.

The Hard re-set is on the back of the unit bottom right, a slide switch.
