|
|
Hello
I've just got an i3. Very impressed with it.
Before installing the latest Speed Camera database, I used it for an afternoon yesterday.
There were various "Speed Alert" warnings. Most were correct - as I approached a Watchman camera it told me I was approaching a 30 MPH limit.
Which obviously means the "Speed Alerts" are already present on the device out of the box.
Later that day I uploaded the camera database (done this loads of times on our office TomTom's).
The database is working fine, but the "Speed Alerts" have gone wonky. They are now saying things like "Speed Alert: 19mph" and "Speed Alert: 12mph" - the last one as I approach a 30 MPH Gatso:
Does anyone know how to get rid of em and just retain the camera database from this site?
Cheers |

before you look at removing them download again.
this time ensure that you select mph instead of kmph.
this is a common mistake and easily rectified.
if still not happy or want to remove post back and someone will take it from there. |

i'm intrigued that you had speed alerts 'out of the box'... is this a new unit or 2nd hand? if it's new then i suspect that the unit you bought was actually a returned unit that didn't have the speed data wiped off...

It was brand new. Arrived yesterday.
It really did not look like a returned unit, although it could be.
All I got was warnings that I was approaching a speed limit, i.e. not a camera but a stretch of road that had a limit of 30 MPH. Another one was 40 MPH.
There were no cameras appearing as icons on the screen out of the box. There is now because I've downloaded the database to it from this site. |

Yes, it has internal memory. Despite a card slot on the side, it does not come with a card and does most countries in Western Europe.
When finding an address, you need to select the country first, e.g. England, from the list of countries on it. |

I think you'll find that it only has street level detail in the UK and the northern coast of France, in the rest of Europe it only has major roads. You have to buy additional cards (or City Select Europe and a spare card) for coverage in these areas. _________________ Chas

Mine was from Maplin's, They supplied the camera database CD seperately, althought this was in February.
