|

I've looked through, I've searched, and I'm sure I've seen the answer somewhere, but can I find it???
Here's what I'd like to do!
I want to create a POI and call it favourites - I knmow how to do this bit!!
Now I know the GO has Favourites and you can add favourites, but if ever I have re-installed, I lose them... not completely, as they are in a back up, but the back up of these cannot be edited.
What I want help with is the Picture pertaining to my POI called Favourites.
All the pictures on the GO are naff, so I want to create my own unique picture to go with it.
Am I right in assuming that if I create a POI called Favourites, asign it one of the naff pictures, then this will show up in my Map Folder as Favourites.bmp.
I could then take my own picture, call it Favourites.bmp and replace the one I chose off the GO.
Is it that simple? Or am I ambitious??
Am i right in assuming that the picture has to be 20x16 as well??
Does it need to be added sideways on like the splash screen??
Any help would be great.

Hi Steve
Have a look at Bo Peep's Guide To Creating A POI (Point Of Interest), here.

Blimey, how complex does that look?? I'm sure it's not... and I'm geussing I only really need to worry about the creating the .bmp part, which seems pretty straight forward. Once I've done this, I guess I can replace the one I chose from the GO.
Oh heck, I'll give it a go this evening!!

Hi Steve,
It looks complicated the first time, but it does get easier.
I sometimes use POI Edit and paste the longitude, and latitude straight into the .OV2 file.
As for creating the BMP for the POI:
22 x 22 pixels is the size to use
256 (aka 8 bit) colour maximum BMP
Microsoft Paint is my favourite tool for creating BMPs
BTW, I’m Robert not Richard.

Make a PoI called "favourites"
Choose a pic or not, if not, you will get the "brown square" anyway
Find favouries.bmp and edit it to what you want. Save as .bmp.
Don't use too many colours and keep to standard web palette ones.
Size is 22x22 pixels. _________________ TTGO 700 (dead)

My apologies Robert, as soon as I hit "Submit" I realised.... why can't we edit these darn messages!! I hate it when I notice a spelling mistake after I have submitted!!
Making my own POI's as in BO Beeps way is a long way off for me, but I'll use what he/you and Simon have pointed out to get my picture for my favourites... to be honest, I'd happily use the Star that the "FAVOURITES" uses if I could find it....
Thanks again Rich... sorry, Robert and Simon for your pointers!
I'm off to play... unless you know where the star is hidden?! _________________ Steve

Good guess!!
Simon Gould is a name I made up for use on the internet. :D
My real name is not "internet friendly". 8O _________________ TTGO 700 (dead)
