What happened to the Navigating Mode in CoPilot 6? I want CoPilot to track my movement without having to plan a trip so that I can play it back later. Is this possible?

You can track your movement by selecting Walking mode and then select View/Where Am I. It doesn't appear to prompt to "Enter a stop for route guidance" as Planning and Guidance modes do. I'm not sure whether it will record the GPS track, but presume that it will do.

Thanks for that, I'll give it a go.

Is there a way to playback the tracks on the desktop PC?

Yes, but not within CoPilot.

You can convert them (using GPS Babel) and import them into Google Earth. Dragging the Path from the Track folder into the Route folder will then allow you to fly the route. I find setting the view to 150 metres back, and 60% off the vertical, with (3D) Terrain enabled, and 3 times exaggeration of height, gives you a great view, as you fly down the valleys.

Are you talking about Google Earth or Google Earth Plus?

Google Earth - the free one. It's a bit misleading when it says that you need Google Earth Plus to read track files.

You can open GPX files, and GPS Babel can convert CP6 track files into GPX files.

I can't seem to get it to work. What input and output file format do you use?

It's ok, I managed to get it working. Really look good on Google Earth. Thanks.

Looks like it does not record the GPS track when in walking mode.

Visual GPS CE may be of interest. This utility records a GPS log which I expect might be usable with some of the playback utilities mentioned by others , although I haven’t used it for that purpose as yet.

The utility is available free of charge and can be downloaded from:

I did another test today, and can confirm that it records the GPS track in walking mode. Thanks and sorry for all the questions. I'm still new with this Smile
