Hi,
I have an iPAQ 3660 and am considering using it for in car satnav.
What would people recommend?
The compaq navigation system looks good and presumably has everything but I can't help feeling that you could do better and cheaper using separates. I assume the separates I need are;
receiver, cables(power etc), CF sleeve, CF card, mount and software.
TIA
Mark

My trusty 3630 still does sterling work as my in-car navigation device Thumbs Up The choice of hardware/software is a personal one, read the reviews, identify what key features are most important to you and then go with the package that best offers those features.

IMHO, TomTom Navigator is the best package, the custom POI's alone are invaluable especially when coupled with our Gatso database. As for GPS receiver, if it's going to be uses entirely in-car then go for a GPS mouse, either the TomTom one or any of the equivalents, if you wish to use away from the car then a GPS Jacket receiver would be the preferabl choice albeit these have reduced sensitivity.

If you have any more questions then ask away Smile

Thanks for the info.
I do like the look of the TomTom 2 software. I have 63M free memory on the 3660, how will that affect the software? Are CF jackets and cards really necessary if you don't need the whole of the UK?
TIA

The entire UK map is approx 96mb, smaller regional map segments can be installed and these are 16 & 32mb sizes so if you were happy to only have one or two smaller areas loaded then you would not need a CF Jacket and memory card. The difficuly is that you may want coverage on two adjoining map segments, the segments are fixed and so if you lived near the border of two segments it may be difficult to achieve the coverage you required.
