MCX VEHICLE ANTENNA

My navman looses GPS within the City of London. I assume that this is due to the high buildings and narrow streets, and when moving it can take some considerable time to lock on again.
I know that external antenna are more sensitive (I have one built into the vehicle for work allocation) and this never losses GPS.
The problem I have is that the advert states that the antenna is magnetic and this is not sutable for either of the vehicles I use the satnav in, one being a fibreglass london taxi and the other being an aluminium Land Rover.
So my question is will the MCX VEHICLE ANTENNA give me increased GPS lock if it is plugged in but left within the vehicle on the dashboard.

Hi - see my post re the Navman 650 made today. It may or may not help you. My Holux GPS antenna on the dashboard works fine with my Tom Tom/Ipaq and if you see the follow up post I made today the Navman antenna must be pretty sensitive.

As nobody else replied to your post and you have subsequently bought an antenna that connects via MCX to the Navman, would you mind giving an indication of better/worse performance please?
