The Click Online program on BBC News 24 this weekend had a piece on how Navteq updated their maps by driving over new roads. The related article is here.

Compare that to the TeleAtlas van with six cameras on all sides, permanent video recording, stereoscopic vision, and post processing entirely offshored...

Forgive me, but your point is?

Having read (and re-read) the article in the link, I couldn't tell (from the article) which is the technically superior with regards to collecting of relevant data. Or were you saying that in spite of superior equipment, Tele Atlas data is still inferior?

I don't think I was making a point. The net result still is that with either approach we still only get yearly updates, with data being at least two years old.

Now I understand - all that technology and we still have out of date maps!
