|
|
Since the database began being charged for and similtaneously offering it for free by submitting additions, the number of incorrect entries has risen.
A camera tower that is a traffic observation cam on the M62 is now in as a 70 fixed speed cam, despite having been there years. On a FOOTbridge high above same motoway near the yorks/lancs border it warns me of a mobile 70 cam. Never been there. The number of dubious mobile sites is growing.
Seems that submitions are being entered without been checked out properly.
How surprising.
Long live open source. |

That's a very large conclusion:

...from a very small body of evidence:

There will always be inaccuracies, but I suspect you may need a larger body of evidence to make the supposition that the number of incorrect entries has risen since the charging regime began. Two anecdotal inaccuracies in thousands of entries doesn't support your thesis. _________________ Garmin 2360LT

Unless you have been there 24/7/365 how do you know??
Also free membership isn't given to those that submit Mobile Sites, only fixed static cameras. |

Absolutely, definitely, categorically, positively, totally NOT - just in case you were in any doubt whatsoever
Why on earth would we want to do that? The changes are transparent for everyone to see. The PocketGPSWorld.com database is widely regarded as the best, we would NEVER compromise this.
Also, in February Richard, Lutz and Mike put a number of extra checks in place to further increase the quality of the data.
We are currently receiving thousands of submissions per month that report, confirm and validate positions. These are cross referenced manually and final decisions are based on many criteria. By it's very nature and huge scale one or two mistakes are bound to occur, but that, of course, is inevitable.
That said, with the extra help and support that we've received from the community over the last couple of months the database is now even better than it used to be
Not sure if you realise that all who have previously submitted cameras are entitled to free lifetime membership.
I'm surprised that you haven't applied for your free membership yet - did you contribute to the community before? _________________ Robert Brady |

I'm just an idle git when driving, mostly coming from gigs late at night (early morn)
So this is a BIG thank you for all who have logged camera sites, rest assured, and take heart and keep loggin, some of us need you, and it's surely appreciated. |
