Instead you the usual smart 4rse answers you get from most forum users which are no help at all - but just belittle you for being newbie here is the link you need.

If you don't want to help someone just don't read their post.... it is hardly gonna make him welcome is it..... |

Ben, I like your approach and helpful attitude, however the link you provide will lead to a dead end as you need to go to this page first http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Cameras then you can make the platform selection and download type. Please be aware that you also need to be a subscribed member to be able to download the speed camera database - Mike |

It wasn't meant to offend anyone it's just a while back the "stickys" where introduced to help prevent this sort of repetitive questioning of the basics. I did suspect their effectiveness would be low at the time (as they are on a number of other forums). The comments are just a way of introducing new members to the idea of either checking the "stickies", looking first then asking or making sure "newbies" post adequate information to allow someone to answer the question.
It might not be the sort of hand holding some are used to but forums are like that. |

And Paul you are quite right to point out the "read the stickies" they have been put there for a reason and take some considerable time to compile - Mike |

dear ben_e71 , as a relative newbie yourself i just wonder what your attitude will be in 6 months time when a newbie might ask a question that has been already asked and answered a great number of times (and of course the answer is in the stickys...) signed ..a smart 4rse _________________ *************************** |

Zogman, appologies, I should have noticed who posted the "read the Stickie" and not the quote from your post - we are all human and mistakes get made at times - Mike |

mike, we all like to help newbies as much as we can but as you said a lot of hard work has gone into producing the stickies and although it might seem daunting to read through them , there is a wealth of info there...please consider (yet another) sticky aimed at newbies to encourage them to read this valuable info.... _________________ *************************** |

Yeah I am a newbie to this forum but not to forums as a whole have been using them for 5 years or so in various formats. So I see the same things happening time after time. If I see a post I think I have already read a thousand times I just don't read it. I agree that the stickies are very useful and do spend time reading them - I think that it is usually best that you spend some time lurking and absorbing - this is fine if you want to invest time in the board and use the community. Most of us will do this and will spend the time. I have to say it has been really useful to me in all this Garmin.
But just like life you will get all sorts here so people will just drop by ask their specific question (usually as a result of googling it) and we should help them as well.
Otherwise we just become a clique - like the worse elitist golf club in the middle of sussex (and I live there so know :D).
Anyway my two pennyworth.....
Can anyone tell me how to turn my I3 on :D :D :D :D :D |

Flowers and a decent meal at a nice restaurant should do the trick.
My tuppenceworth.
A new member will probably be anxious to get his/her problem solved.
He/she may not notice the 'stickies'.
HE/SHE MAY USE CAPITALS.
He/she may not get back to thank the person/s who helped.
It would all be very nice but it's not a perfect World.
The main thing is this Forum is very good and in my opinion, getting better.
Ah, that feels better. :D _________________ Formerly known as Lost_Property
