Guys,

Just got my Rikaline 6033 a few days ago and been playing around with TT5 quite a bit Wink

Anyhow, I noticed severe frame rate reduction on my xda II mini running TT5.21 when POI are shown on the map, especially when the speed detectors locations are shown. Anybody experience similar symptom here?

Anything that could be done to increase the performance?

Thanks in advance.

Cheers.

Welcome to the forum, instead of having the Enable POI options ticked for the cameras just use the Warn when near POI option instead, this will put the refresh rate back to a more normal display - Mike

I figured the same thing this morning while driving to work (still playing with my TT ) Rolling Eyes I had turned off the POI but still getting the voice warning on the speed cameras. Is that the only way around? Is it not possible to 'tweak' it a bit for better display performance?

Make sure you have no programs running in the background and keep the POI's switched off. Also try with Street names on and off to see if there is a difference.

You will see that your PDA has a lower CPU than most of the newer models which are about 400Mhz. If my memory serves me correctly its a 201Mhz CPU on the XDA MINI S as they lowered the CPU to increase battery life etc.

My PDA is the first xdaII mini (not the mini-S) which is based on Intel PXA272 416Mhz chip. Anyway, I don't believe the processor is at fault. The more pertinent issue here maybe is the amount of free built-in storage & program memory. I normally have between 6-11MB free only. Wondering how much you guys normally have?

Is this with or without TomTom running?

Is this an O2 device per chance? and if so has the device been configured to load the O2 "Active Interface" onto the desktop? the reason I ask is that I have experianced serious problems when this is loaded I must add that these problems were on other XDA devices and not the one you are experiancing problems with, but it might be worth considering if it is loaded, the unfortunate part is that to remove it requires a hard reset - Mike

Yes, this is an O2 device. However, I've never encountered any O2 "Active Interface" before. When you say 'desktop', did you mean the 'Today' page?

The reason I asked

Is because my Mio168 Shows 24.75MB Program and 26.17MB Storage Free, when TomTom not running. Your reading did seem low. Hopefully mikealder's sugestion will do the trick.

Its not part of the Today page, it actually adds a load of internet/ wap related shortcuts to the main screen (the one that has the Start button top LH), as you have not encountered Active Interface before it probably (hopefully) isn't loaded to your device, as I said earlier this was on a different unit but thought O2 might have put it on XDAII mini - disregard this as a possible problem then, anyone anymore ideas? - Mike

Just checked mine again and it has a total of 62.82 main memory and even then my screen slows if I have POI's enabled.

With TomTom off mine shows 6.98MB Program Memory In use and 4.9MB Storage Memory In use.

Do you know the maximum available memory on your device?

Either there is insufficient memory on your device, something is running in the background or maybe something gone wrong on the main board.

Maybe a hard reset and re-install. Only install the minimum you require and see how it goes. If it then runs OK, add other bits and bobs, one at a time, to see if there are any detrimental effects. It may help you pinpoint the problem.

Hi guys, Just thought I would add my two cents worth the XDA mini in the same phone as the Imate Jam and as such only has 64md memory for device storage and program running. So that works out as 32mb each way.

My suggestion it so move all of your program storage to a memory card and thus increase the amount of memory running programs can use. I use to have a Jam and that was how I got it to perform better.
