OK, I have pairedup the BT GPS with my Axim x50v using WM5 and have got it to work with several different programs but I am not able to select the COM PORT which it is paired to in TOMTOM NAV 5.00. With the axim, you have to use Com Port 7 for this GPS. It only gives me 2 options in the BT Manager, either 7 or 8. Now when I go to the configure screens in TT Nav, I am only given the options of
Native IR
COM3
BT UART on COM5
Se???a?? ?a??d?? st?? COM1
Ofcourse none of these work, and btw, I have tried many different combinations of using the other TomTom BT, TT Cable, Other Cable, played around with the baud rates, got sat fix first, shook it, swoar many times, but nothing seemed to change. I'm hoping someone has an idea how i can either change my allowable com ports on the axim itself, or is there something i'm missing outright? Thanks for helpin out, i'm been working on this for days.

6mil, Welcom to the forum, please have a read of this It will take a bit of going through but in places there is information specific to x50v running WM2005, I know it works because I posted the settings into the thread I have linked you to - Mike
Thanks for the quick response, but I still haven't got it. I think that this GPS must be incompatible or something.
When I am pairing up the device, I am only given the options of Port 7 or 8.
I am assuming all other ports are used up on the Axim. My screen looks as follows:
GSpace GS-R232 (COM8)
Incoming Port (COM7)
New Outgoing Port
And under the GPS Set Up I have my Program Port as COM9, and the Hardware port as COM8. Baud rate at 9600. Should I have the Manage GPS automatically box checked?
I've tried it iether way with no luck.

As for compatability it should work fine with TomTom and your unit, I still think the bit that is wrong is the Bluetooth connection settings.
When you connected the two devices via Bluetooth did you check the box for Serial Port during the configuration? if not, or you can't remember try the following:
Go into Bluetooth devices and delete the icon GSpace GS-R22 (COM8), to do this tap and hold the icon then select delete from the pop-up box.
Select New Partnership, when the PDA has found the GPS unit select it and press next.
Enter pass key (if prompted), get this from the suppliers information/ data sheet.
Tick the box for "Serial Input" then press finish
In Bluetooth Manager select Com ports tab, select your GPS unit, select port value as Com7, tick the box for Secure connection (it is selected by default anyway), then press OK
Go to Start/ Settings/ System and select the GPS icon.
Set Program port to Com8
Set Hardware port to Com7
Baud to 33600
Access check box select Manage Automatic selected

Hi
I'm using a Dell x51V with the Dell BT GPS. I've had quite a few setup problems and found the most secure connection is to not use WM5 GPS software at all (Set Program to None, Hardware to None and Do not let WM5 manage your GPS). Partner BT GPS with Dell. No Serial port selected, No Com port (Virtual) set.
Then in TomTom just select the Other Bluetooth GPS and the strange line below BT UART .... It usually looks like Se???a?? ?a??d?? st?Com1: (You will see the Com1: if you tap and hold the line - String too long for screen)
This works with my setup every time.
Using the MS GPS handler I kept losing the connection when turning the system off and on.
Regards
Stuart
