Loading csv/asc, no problem. Luvly little bitmaps of camera!

Only problem is all my other POI's have [ACTIVE] by the side of them. The camera POIs won't activate (although I can see them on the map).

Under Preferences/Safety Alerts/Active POI, I can check the 'Active', 'Audio Warning' and 'Visual Warning' boxes but on saving it just ignores it all.

Is there anything I should do different to other POIs? Wondered if there was a limit to the number of POIs in a file, file size etc.

cheers people!

After clicking submit I noticed the previous post about only having 16 POIs active at any one time.

Really wish I'd not loaded every POI known to man... how dumb...

Disabled some of the POI's and now the camera ones will enable. Doh!

Hi bjclark.

Just to let you know you've had more luck than me.
I couldn't activate any file that was installed after file No. 16 even with all the others disabled.
Unit changed at shop and still had the same fault.
Now installed the 'other' software on it.
Problem solved, now got 39 active POI's. :D

I will have to keep an eye out for a definitive "number of active POIs".

Seems like different people say differing numbers? last i heard was 16 active out of a maximum of 25?!

I will have to experiment! Not sure the ActiveSync gets it right all the time either. Hmmm

Interesting subject - thanks for the info! Smile

I still don't understand this problem. Everytime someone mentions active POI's, CeeJay reminds us all once again that he was never able to get even 16 active and that he now has TomTom fitted on his Navman and how fantastic it is.

As happy as I'm sure we all are for CeeJay, I can only say once more that on my 510 (running SmartST2005) I have 25 of my own POI's loaded and I have all of them set to be active in one way or another (either audible & visual or just visual). If I go to Preferences/Safety Alerts/Active POI and list them all, they don't all list as ACTIVE. But when I choose one that has NOT got ACTIVE written next to it, it is ticked as active and I know it works 'cos it has!

I have 15 camera files, Redlights, Temp cameras, London Congestion Zone file, as well as Motorway services, various M6 tolls, SEAT dealerships, and others totalling 25 personal POI's plus some pre-loaded ones that I have active. I can't explain all this but I know it all works.

Hi Simon:

The way I understand is this. You can have 25 custom poi files installed, all of those will show on your maps providing an appropriate bitmap icon was installed with them. If no bitmap they will show using Navmans default asterisk icon.

Of those 25 up to 16 may be selected as active either visually or by sound or both. This means that when you are within the predefined distance of the POI
the bottom toolbar will display its category name and a count down distance, this is the visual alert. The double chime will sound if the audible alert is set.

On my ICN520 I do not see either the countdown or hear the chimes unless the POI is set to be active.

Terry, I have 20+ POIs on an iCN635 and the same on an iCN550. They are all active and all display properly.

Hi Tim:

Just to clarify do all 20 warn with both the chime and the countdown distance at the bottom of the screen?

Yes, I think so. I will load the latest database tonight (23 files) and check, though.

Terry,
All of my POI's (more than 16) are ticked as active and all have either a chime, visual at the bottom of screen or both. I can't explain why mine works this way but I'm sure glad it doesn't. I should add though that not all the POI's are listed under Prefrences/MyData/MyPOI's or under Preferences/Safety Alerts/Active POI's but they all work when I come across one on my travels!! Go Figure!!!
