OK maybe I'm missing something major here but how exactly do you update the maps on this system? I was on a new dual carriageway today ( well its been open for around a year now) and when I looked at the navman it showed me in the middle of a park. I have tried the update through the smart deak but it tells me I already have the same software installed. I'm probably missing something obvious so any help would be appreciated. |

You buy updated maps from Navman but at the moment you have the latest version. _________________ Tim |

Have a look at this thread, below...http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=37629
Sounds like you have been trying to update the device software from the Navman web site. You need to look for new maps there, which will cost you £££s, when they are available. Your present maps will have some errors on the mapping - they could be a couple of years old by the time they are adapted for your use _________________ Gee-Pee

Thanks for the prompt reply Tim, do you have any idea when they issue updates and is this where the smart desk directs you to when you go to the updates? |

As Gee-Pee says, new maps are nothing to do with the Navman Desktop or the iCN application software. However, Navman's policy in the past has been that you can run old maps with new software but not new maps with old software.
Hence, if you get new maps, in the past you got new software, too.
Navman generally issue maps once a year. When new maps are announced, you will get to read about it here and on Navman's website. I'm not sure if they operate a mailing list.
You certainly won't get to hear about new maps from the Navman Desktop programme, although it will alert you to service pack updates (which are for the application only) if you have an internet connection. _________________ Tim |
